Wear and corrosion resistance of CoCrNi composite coatings by laser cladding

Two kinds of CoCrNi composite coatings, CoCrNiMo and CoCrNiMoBC, were prepared by laser cladding on the base metal 304 stainless steel. The wear corrosion properties coatings studied tests electrochemical tests. Results show that addition B4C promotes generation ceramic phase, therefore improving microhardness coating enhancing its resistance, while simutaneously keeps excellent resistance. Energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry analysis shows chromium distribution in two is relatively uniform, which beneficial for Scanning Kelvin probe microscopy results reveal potential difference between dendrites interdendrites only 20 mV, leads to a low driving force galvanic corrosion.
